This high-quality, name-brand, half-strip stapler doesn't jam, even when you load it with a "strip" of only two staples! Made of metal, it has a "soft feel" thumb cushion (on top) and base that make it very comfortable to use as a handheld stapler. It opens wide for tacking, and has an easily reversible strike plate that allows staple ends to be crimped inward (standard stapling) or outward. The stapler also rests flat on a desktop for use as an ordinary desktop stapler.

A nice feature is the plastic pop-out "name plate" holder, located in the removeable base, that accepts a paper or plastic strip with the owner's name (or any other identifying words) to tell "borrowers" where to return the stapler. This compact stapler is an IMPROVED model of my "classic" Swingline half-strip stapler, which, after years of use, finally began to jam at the very ends of staple strips because of a worn-out "pusher" spring.

The stapler itself is apparently the same as this one, Swingline Compact Commercial Stapler with Remover (S7071201R). However, without the staple remover, the stapler is much more suited for use as a handheld stapler. -- High-Quality, Non-Jamming, Half-Strip Stapler
